If you replace the router in your network

If Network Magic indicates to you that you have connected to another network, one cause can be that you set up a new router in your network.

  1. In the list of options for the other network, click Make this connection my new home network.

  1. Review the information that Network Magic displays about the manufacture and model of your new router.

  1. If this is the correct router, click Replace.

Wait briefly, while Network Magic checks your network and detects any connected computers and devices.

  1. When setup completes for the replacement router, click OK.

Network Magic displays the network map, which includes the new router.

  1. If you are using a Microsoft Windows 98 SE or Windows Me computer, you must also renew the computerÆs IP address in Windows.

Either restart your computer or, if you want, renew the IP address yourself. For steps, see Renew a computer's IP address.

Network Magic detects a new router in situations that include the following:

New router: You have a new router, and are replacing the old router that you were using when you installed Network Magic.

New network: You are setting up a new network (that is, it includes at least a replacement router).
